What my pals don’t recognize is what actually makes me sick
U ntil lately, I ‘d never considered myself mentally unwell. Then I came out openly regarding my lifelong struggle with gender dysphoria, which is when the concerns started from household, close friends, and complete strangers:
- “What exactly is gender dysphoria?”
- “Are you going to begin dressing as a lady?”
- “Does this suggest you like guys?”
- “Why do you still have a beard?”
The inquiries, generally originating from an area of virtue, are reasonable. Seminar regarding sex dysphoria, particularly in a conservative Christian context, are unusual.
Heck, even I didn’t know the answers to fifty percent of the questions before coming out openly.
E very every now and then, nonetheless, a concern or remark will rise to the surface that isn’t fairly so innocent.
Such held true a few days ago when a friend pinged me on Facebook.
“Hey Dave– lately I was chatting with someone regarding gender dysphoria and they stated that it’s simply a mental disorder. I was wondering about your take on this?”
